Champions League, second round, first leg

Barcelona 1 - Liverpool 2

Defending champions Barcelona have an uphill battle if they are to stay in the competition after losing 1-2 to Liverpool in the Nou Camp. Deco opened the scoring for Frank Rijkaard's side, heading Zambrotta's cross past Reina on the quarter hour mark. But Bellamy equalised after a mistake by Víctor Valdés on the stroke of half time, and Riise got the winner after Bellamy set him up in the second half. (21.02.07)

Inter Milan 2 - Valencia 2

Valencia have a good chance of going through though after drawing 2-2 at Inter Milan. Cambiasso headed the Italians into the lead with half an hour on the clock, by David Villa equalised after the restart with a direct free kick. Maicon restored the lead for the hosts a few minutes later, but David Silva levelled the scores once again just four minutes from the end. (21.02.07)

Real Madrid 3 - Bayern Munich 2

Real Madrid beat Bayern Munich 3-2 in the first leg of their Champions League tie, a result which leaves things well balanced for the return match in a fortnight's time. Raúl produced a captain's performance, picking up a pass from Van Nistelrooy to open the scoring early on, and after Lucio headed an equaliser, adding a second after Helguera headed back Beckham's corner. Capello's side seemed to be on the way to a comfortable win when Van Nistelrooy made it three following a Beckham free kick on the half hour mark, but Van Bommel fired one back two minutes from the end to narrow the gap to one goal.
