First division - day 29

Sevilla failed to take advantage of Barcelona's slip, the Andalusians remaining a point behind the leaders after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Racing Santander. Real Madrid are now only a point below them after a 2-0 win over Osasuna, Raúl opening the scoring midway through the first half after Emerson headed the ball into his path, and Robinho making it two near the end after Ricardo could only push out Higuaín's cross.

A controversial goal by Eller gave sixth placed Atlético Madrid a 0-1 victory at Villarreal, the defender scoring early on with Guille Franco lying injured in the goalmouth. Fernando Torres missed a second half penalty. Recreativo are up to seventh after a 4-2 win over Celta, who fired coach Fernando Vázquez after dropping into the relegation zone. And Espanyol are ninth after beating Real Sociedad 1-0, a result which leaves the Basque side closer to relegation.

Getafe lose ground on the European spots after losing 2-0 at Mallorca, Nunes opening the scoring and Trejo getting a last minute goal just a minute after making his debut. A spectacular free kick from Iago against bottom club Gimnàstic gave Deportivo a 1-0 victory, taking them level with Bernd Schuster's side. And Levante and Betis drew 1-1, a scoreline which did neither much good in their fight to avoid the drop zone. (08.04.07)

Barcelona are in danger of losing top spot after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Zaragoza on Saturday evening. Diego Milito got the only goal of the match in the second half, connecting with D'Alessandro's cross from the left wing to beat Víctor Valdés from a wide angle. The locals could have opened the scoring in the first half when Diogo and Sergio García went close, but in the end it took a couple of important saves from César to ensure the final result.

Zaragoza move above Valencia to fourth after Quique Flores's side lost 1-0 to struggling Athletic Bilbao. With one eye on Tuesday night's Champions League tie, the coach put out a much weakened line up, and they paid the price when Gabilondo flicked Etxeberría's cross past Butelle on the half hour mark. Athletic climb out of the relegation spots as a result. (07.04.07)
