UEFA Cup, semi finals, first leg

An all Spanish final is on the cards after tonight's first leg results. One finalist was already assured as La Liga sides Osasuna and Sevilla met in their semi-final, but the outcome is in the balance after Osasuna ran out 1-0 winners. Soldado headed the only goal from a David López free kick ten minutes in to the second half, and the locals were unlucky not to add to their tally later on when López, Soldado and Milosevic all went close.

Espanyol took a big step towards their second ever appearance in a UEFA Cup final after beating Werder Bremen 3-0 in Barcelona. Moisés Hurtado headed them in to an early lead from Rufete's cross, and Pandiani got the second soon after the restart from De la Peña's corner. German keeper Wiese was sent off soon afterwards for bringing down Tamudo, and Corominas wrapped things up with a third goal in the final minutes. (26.04.07)
