UEFA Cup, semi finals, second leg

Espanyol will meet Sevilla in all Spanish final after both won their respective matches tonight. Espanyol beat Werder Bremen 1-2, Coro and Lacruz getting the goals after Almeida had given the German side an early lead. And Sevilla won 2-0 against Osasuna, strikes from Brazilians Luis Fabiano and Renato cancelling out the Pamplona based side's first leg lead. (03.05.07)

Espanyol are through to their second ever UEFA Cup final after beating Werder Bremen 1-2 in the second leg. The ghosts of the final defeat 19 years ago against Bayer Leverkusen were awakened when Almeida raced on to a long ball out of midfield to poke a shot past Gorka in only the fourth minute. But midway through the first half the German side were left with ten men after Klose was shown a second yellow card for diving, and Coro levelled the scores on the night after Reinke could only push out Riera's cross soon after the restart. And ten minutes later Lacruz made sure when he headed Zabaleta's corner past the keeper to keep up the Catalan side's unbeaten record in the competition this season.

Sevilla will be defending the title they won last season after beating Osasuna 2-0 in the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium, overturning the one goal deficit from the first leg. The Andalusians had a few chances before Luis Fabiano put them ahead a few minutes before half time, collecting Poulsen's long ball out of defence and holding off two or three challenges before poking a shot past Ricardo. And Renato got the winner when he turned in a Daniel Alves pass a few minutes after the restart. One goal would have taken the visitors through though, and there were some nail biting moments for the home fans before the final whistle. (03.05.07)
