Under 16 Aegean Cup

Spain ended runners up to hosts Turkey in the "Aegean Cup Tournament", which took place at the end of January / beginning of February. Sides were separated into two groups, with Spain in group A paired with Ukraine, Norway and Greece, and Turkey in group B together with Romania, Slovakia and Belgium. Ginés Meléndez's side drew with Ukraine and beat Norway and Greece to top their group, but lost the final 0-1 to Turkey. (02.02.07)


Spain 1 - Ukraine 1

Spain: Murcia; Morales, Alberto, Molero, López, Canales, Raúl (Eslava 41'), Keko, Juli, Pacheco (Sergi 48'), Vallecillo (Vida 58').

The East Europeans took the lead in the second minute, but Spain equalised with a Canales penalty midway through the first half after Keko was fouled. (29.01.07)


Spain 1 - Norway 0

Spain: Murcia; Morales (Juli 79'), Molero, Gazta, Terrón, Vidal, Iván, Eslava, Pacheco (Keko 52'), Sergi (Vallecillo 72'), Raúl (Canales 76').

Spain top their group after beating the Scandinavians. Sergi got the only goal in the twentieth minute from Vidal's pass, but the youngsters could have scored several more in a game which they dominated. (30.01.07)


Spain 2 - Greece 1

Spain: Murcia; Morales, Alberto, Molero, Gazta, López, Vidal (Iván 66'), Eslava, Raúl (Pacheco 75'), Keko (Canales 58'), Vallecillo (Sergio 49', Terrón 80').

Spain will meet hosts Turkey in the final after beating Greece 2-1. All the goals came in the second half, with Raúl opening the scoring with a shot into the top corner of the net. Nikolaus equalised soon afterwards, but Raúl beat three men to get his second of the night later on. Alberto was sent off for a second bookable offence near the end. (31.01.07)


Turkey 1 - Spain 0

Spain: Murcia (Alex 41'); Morales (Juli 63'), Molero, Gazta, Terrón, Vidal, Iván, Eslava, Raúl (Vallecillo 63'), Pacheco (Keko 48'), Sergi (López 74').

Spain lost the final against their hosts thanks to a single goal scored by Batuhan in only the second minute of the match. Ginés Meléndez's side had several chances to equalise, the best coming from Pacheco in the first half, but they were unable to score. (02.02.07)
