XXXIII Atlantic International Cup

5-10 February 2007. Spain won the 33rd edition of the Atlantic international trophy, which takes place every winter in the Canary Islands. The youngsters beat Denmark 2-0 with strikes from Jeffren and Bueno, and then went on to draw 1-1 with the hosts, the Canary Islands. And in the last game Ginés Meléndez's side won 4-0 against the Czech Republic with goals from Modrego, Jeffren, Bueno and Azpilicueta to take the trophy once again.


Spain 2 - Denmark 0

Spain: Ramos; Víctor, Reyes, Modrego (Mosquera 59'), Azpilicueta, Francis, Jeffren (Sergio García 80'), Balenciaga, Popo (Moyano 75'), Bueno, Mikel San José.

Goals: 1-0. 18. Jeffren; 2-0. 29. Bueno.

Spain won their opening match in the Atlantic tournament, beating Denmark 2-0 in Vecindario. Barcelona's Jeffren got the opener with a well struck free kick, and Real Madrid's Bueno added the second after a defensive mistake on the half hour mark. (06.02.07)

Goals: 0-1. 21. Javi Hernández; 1-1. 47. Romario.

Maspalomas. A draw against their hosts kept Spain in line to win the tournament. Real Madrid's Javi Hernández won the ball off Moisés to score midway through the first half, but Romario equalised just two minutes after the restart. (07.02.07)

Gran Canaria stadium. Spain beat the Czech Republic 4-0 in their last game to finish top of the mini-league and win the trophy. After the Canary Islands beat Denmark earlier in the day, the youngsters only needed a draw, and Modrego put them ahead with a long shot which the keeper turned in to his own net. Jeffren made it two just a minute after the restart, and Bueno and Azpilicueta finished things off later in the second half. (09.02.07)
