A good start for Spain's new under 21 side, who recorded a 2-2 draw against Stuart Pearce's England in this friendly match. Team captain Soldado put Iñaki Sáez's side ahead ten minutes before the break, picking up the ball after Raúl García charged down a clearance to round Carson and score. And Jurado made it two on the stroke of half time after a good run by Barragán set him up. Nugent got one back though after Sergio Sánchez could only partly clear Bentley's free kick soon after the restart.

There were the usual round of substitutions, and Depor striker Xisco (currently on loan at Vecindario) fired a shot against the foot of the post midway through the second half. Raúl García brought a top class save out of Carson with a spectacular volley, and Xisco headed the resulting corner just over the top. But with ten minutes to go Lita got on the end of a long cross from Davies to head past Adán. Xisco, Jurado and Sergio Sánchez both had chances to win it after that, but Adán produced the save of the night to keep out Richardson in injury time.
