Real Madrid drew their second match 2-2 at Lazio, a result which keeps them joint top of the group together with Olympiacos. Van Nistelrooy gave them the lead in the eighth minute, sticking out a leg to turn Sneijder's wide free kick past Ballotta. But Pandev fired a good chance over the top and Casillas had to save from Mutarelli before Standardo headed a long ball into the path of Pandev for him to volley home the equaliser.

The Italians should have gone ahead after the restart when Casillas got a hand to an effort from Mauri and Rocchi shot wide with the goal at his mercy, but soon afterwards Raúl won the ball in midfield and slipped the ball through for Van Nistelrooy for him to run on and chip the keeper. A quarter of an hour later though Pandev got his second of the night with a low shot from the edge of the area, and that's the way it stayed despite a last minute volley from Drenthe into the side netting.
