Sevilla are close to going through to the first knock out round after beating Steaua Bucharest 0-2. Renato missed an easy chance for the Andalusians before he opened the scoring midway through the first half, turning the ball in from close up after Zapata could only push out Poulsen's header following a corner. And Poulsen and Kanouté came close to extending the lead as the Spanish side dominated the first half.

Badea could have equalised early in the second half when he had a strike ruled out for a dubious offside, but almost immediately Sevilla worked a quick passing move which ended with Renato diving low to head home Jesús Navas's cross. The Brazilian midfielder could have completed his hat-trick later on with a header which the keeper saved, but his side had done enough to close the gap on group leaders Arsenal to one point.
