Barcelona ensured top spot in their group after drawing 2-2 at Olympique Lyon. Messi and Bojan combined to set up Iniesta for the opening goal with only three minutes on the clock, but four minutes later a long free kick from Juninho bounced past Valdés, the first goal he had let in this season in the Champions League.

Valdés made up for his mistake with good saves from Santos and Govou, and Abidal cleared off the line from Juninho when the keeper was beaten. Touré brought a good save out of Vercoutre at the other end, but Juninho went close with another free kick soon afterwards. It was too much for Frank Rijkaard, who was sent to the stands after arguing with referee Farina.

Messi restored the lead from the penalty spot early in the second half after he was put through by Bojan but then fouled by Squillaci, and Gudjohnsen could have got a third, firing one effort well over the top and finding Vercoutre with a second. But with ten minutes to go Abidal gave away a second penalty on Keita which Juninho converted to keep the French side in with a chance of qualifying.
