Barcelona cruised through to the quarter finals of the competition with a 1-0 win over Celtic. Xavi got the only goal of the game within the first three minutes, flicking the ball over the head of Boruc after Ronaldinho and Sylvinho combined down the left wing to set him up. And with their opponents needing three to turn things around after that, Frank Rijkaard's side controlled the game from then on and didn't take any risks.

Even so the visiting keeper was the busiest man on the pitch, saving from Ronaldinho and then Puyol before the break. There was bad news for the locals when Messi limped off in tears before the break with another injury that will keep him out for over a month, but with Henry his replacement the pressure didn't let up. The Scottish side have never won a Champions League game away from home, and Víctor Valdés was hardly troubled all evening. Barça could have won it by more, Boruc saving well from Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Deco after the restart, but by then the tie was already over.
