Transfer rumours

Atlético Madrid continue to strengthen their squad, and if they don't win something this season it won't be for lack of spending. Reyes was the latest to join after the Colchoneros topped Real Madrid's half-hearted bid, and with Forlán, Luis García, Simao, Cléber and Raúl García all joining Maxi, Agüero and company, it is difficult to see where they will all fit in.

Still no definite news from up the road at the Bernabeu stadium, although they are at last closing in on some of their targets. after a long string of names have been bandied about. The Robben saga should come to an end this week, reportedly with Ballack thrown in (?!?), and Chelsea could use the €40 million or so fee to tie up Sevilla's Daniel Alves. Sneijder may well be the next objective, but the left back position is still a problem, with Drenthe (apparently a Barça fan!) dragging his feet.

But if the local press is to be believed it may not stop there, with Iniesta, Lucho González, Quaresma, Nasri and Huntelaar all hitting the headlines, as well as.... Kaká! This seemed to be shelved at last after Milan declared him not for sale, but Calderón is apparently ready to spend a record €90 million on the Brazilian star, who accidentally got on the Real Madrid bus during the Moscow Railways Tournament a couple of days ago. Wishful thinking? (05.08.07)
