Second division - day 10

Leaders Málaga suffered their second defeat of the season at Albacete, although they still remain at the top of the table. Calandria gave the locals the lead before the break, and although Salva equalised from the penalty spot in the first minute of injury time, Barkero converted a second penalty a couple of minutes later for a 2-1 victory. Numancia are up to second after a last minute 1-0 win over Gimnàstic, Gorka Brit getting the only goal right at the end. Sporting Gijón drop to third though after losing 0-1 to Celta earlier in the day, Okkas scoring in the second half to hand the Asturians their first loss of the season.

Sevilla Atlético lost their coach to the first team midweek, but they are still in fourth spot after a 0-0 draw at Xerez. The Xerez manager Miguel Angel Rondán handed in his resignation after the match, but it was turned down by the club. Castellón are back up to sixth after beating Alavés 2-0, Perico and Rafita putting them two up with only a quarter of the game gone. The other two matches on Sunday both ended in high scoring draws, with Córdoba and Hércules finishing 3-3 and Eibar and Salamanca winding up 2-2. (28.10.07)

Elche are up to fifth in the table after a late 1-0 win over Cádiz. Alberto headed the only goal from a Bellvis cross in the 96th minute to leave the Andalusians on the brink of the drop zone. Three players were sent off during the match, Miguel for the locals and Fleurquín and Cristian for the visitors. Racing Ferrol stay in sixth place after a dull 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad, who remain a point behind the Galicians in the table. Tenerife are level with Chris Coleman's side after drawing 1-1 at Poli Ejido, Arruabarrena levelling the scores near the end after Juli had given the home side the lead in the second minute. And Granada 74 beat bottom club Las Palmas 0-1, Torrecilla getting the winner from Juanlu's free kick in the eighth minute. (27.10.07)
