UEFA Cup, quarter final, first leg

Bayern Munich 1 - Getafe 1

Just a few days ago Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer said he was didn't know that Michael Laudrup was the coach of Getafe, and that he hadn't heard of any of their players. That will surely have changed though after the Spanish side drew 1-1 in Germany tonight. Luca Toni headed the locals into the lead midway through the first half from Schweinsteiger's corner, and for a few minutes it looked as if they could win by a big margin. But Mario came close to equalising a couple of times before the break, and Manu headed against the post late in the second half. And with the game coming to an end Contra lifted a shot over Kahn to square the tie and set up a thrilling return match next week. (03.04.08)
