Spain finished top of their
qualifying group after drawing 1-1 with Argentina. With qualification for the
last 16 already guaranteed Juan Santiestaban rested his key players, and his
side fell behind when Benítez beat De Gea with a shot on the turn on the
half hour mark.
Iago hit the post with a
free kick on the stroke of half time though, and Dani Aquino missed a couple of
chances before he headed home the equaliser from Isma's cross midway through
the second half. The Murcia striker didn't celebrate the goal though as he has
family in Argentina.
The South Americans needed a
draw at least to be sure of second spot, but they almost sneaked a win when
Fernández hit the post in the last minute. Spain have to wait to see who
are their rivals, but as things stand at the moment it will almost certainly be
North Korea. |
