Atlético Madrid are well on the way to place in the first round of the UEFA Cup after beating Serbia's Vojvodina 3-0 in the first leg of their qualifying tie. A capacity crowd saw Diego Forlán have a goal disallowed for a dubious offside early on as the Spaniards tried to break down a nine man defensive wall. And eight minutes before the break Forlán and Agüero combined to set up Maxi for him to open the scoring.

Vojvodina were left with ten men when Milutinovic was sent off two minutes after the restart. And Diego Forlán and Agüero added two more after that to complete the scoreline, the first after Maniche's shot was deflected into Forlán's path, and the second a diving header following a cross from Forlán himself. Substitutes Reyes and Jurado could have added more, but three should be enough to take to Novi Sad in two weeks time.
