Getafe had to wait until the last minute in their first ever European appearance before clocking up a 1-0 win over Twente. Neither keeper was particularly troubled in the first half, but Granero and Albín both went close with free kicks soon after the restart. The Dutch side were left with ten men when Braafheid picked up a second booking on the hour mark, but Licht and Casquero both wasted good chances, and Pato had to be on his toes to keep out Huysegems late on. With the game coming to an end though, Uche picked up a return pass from Albín following a quickly taken free kick to give the Madrid based side a slim lead for the second leg.
