Atlético Madrid cruised through to the league stage of the competition after beating Erciyesspor 0-5 on Thursday evening. Agüero started things off in the fifth minute on a quick counter-attack following a corner at the other end and Jurado added a second soon afterwards, both assisted by Luis García. Shortly before half time Agüero headed home his second of the night, and with a match in the Nou Camp coming up at the weekend, Aguirre decided it was time to take him off to protect him from injury.

A few minutes in to the second half Maxi made it four from the penalty spot after Luis García was fouled, and with twelve minutes to go half time substitute Forlán got the fifth after Jurado and Maxi combined to set him up. It rounded off an total of nine goals against the Turkish side, and Atlético now have recorded a 17-0 aggregate in their last four games. Bring on Barcelona!
