Atlético Madrid completed the clean sweep for Spanish sides with one match still to go after beating PSV Eindhoven. The game was played behind closed doors following crowd trouble in the tie against Olympique Marseille, but the lack of fans didn't stop Simao taking advantage of some slack defending to open the scoring in the thirteenth minute. Heitinga could have had a penalty before that, and a few minutes later Maxi drove home the second after Maza Rodríguez could only deflect Simao's corner in to his path.

Atlético have a reputation for throwing things away though, and Heitinga did well to clear a shot from Méndez off the line with Coupet beaten. And just a couple of minutes after the restart Koevermans got one back, turning the ball past the keeper after Lazovic had headed on a corner. There were some nervous moments after that, although substitute Sinama-Pongolle could have increased the lead had Isaksson not kept him out later on. In the end though it didn't matter whether they won or drew as Marseille had lost at Liverpool, but the three points does keep them above the Premier League side on goal difference going in to the last match.
