Second division - day 15

Only three games on Sunday, with Hércules moving level with third placed Zaragoza after a 2-0 victory over Eibar. Both goals came after the break, Abraham Paz opening the scoring and Tote wrapping things up in injury time. Earlier in the day Castellón beat bottom club Sevilla Atlético 0-2 to move up to fifth, Ulloa putting them ahead before Gallardo scored in his own net. But Murcia were unable to do more than draw 2-2 against Tenerife despite going two up through Despotovic and Alonso, strikes from Nino and Alfaro saving a point for the Canary Islanders. (07.12.08)

No change at the top of the second division after the top three all drew. Leaders Xerez were close to a win though after Antoñito and Martí Crespi put them two up against Girona in a match which was delayed due to the late arrival of the visitors' plane, but a late strike by Arnal and a last minute Manga penalty saved a 2-2 draw for the Catalans.

Earlier in the day second placed Salamanca went ahead with a Salva Sevilla penalty against Rayo Vallecano before Pachón levelled it at 1-1. And third placed Zaragoza also drew 2-2 at home to neighbours Huesca, Arizmendi getting himself sent off and Rubén Castro and José Vegar putting the visitors two up before Ewerthon scored twice late on to save a point.

Real Sociedad took advantage to move to within three points of the promotion spots after beating struggling Alicante 1-0, although it was not a convincing victory with Aranburu heading the only goal after the break. Levante are just a point behind the Basque side after coming from a goal down to beat Albacete 3-1, with Geijo scoring twice for the locals.

Elche moved out of the relegation spots for the first time this season after beating Córdoba 3-1, two of their goals coming from David Fuster. And Las Palmas also moved clear of the danger zone after a 2-0 win against Celta, a good first result for caretaker coach Javier Vidales. The Canary Islanders are now level with Gimnastic, who drew 1-1 at Alavés later in the evening. (06.12.08)
