Champions League, quarter finals second leg

Barcelona will be flying the flag alone for La Liga sides after Villarreal were beaten 3-0 by Arsenal on Wednesday. Walcott ran on to a back-heel pass from Fábregas to beat Diego López in the tenth minute, and Adebayor poked home a second on the hour mark. A few minutes later the English side were awarded a penalty after Capdevila brought down Walcott. Eguren was sent with a second booking for protesting, and Van Persie fired home the spot kick to take his team through to an all-English semi-final with Manchester United. (15.04.09)

Barcelona will meet Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Champions League after drawing 1-1 at Bayern Munich. The four goal victory in the first leg had virtually wrapped things up, but Ribéry gave the German side a slight hope when he ran on to Zé Roberto's pass and beat Víctor Valdés in the second minute after the restart. Later in the second half though Keita connected with Xavi's pass to fire a long shot past Butt, and it was all over. Barça will play the first leg of the semi-final at home in a fortnight's time.
