Deportivo appear to be heading out of the UEFA Cup after a 3-0 defeat at Aalborg. With the Danish league still in the winter break, the locals had only played a few friendlies in the last ten weeks. But they demonstrated why they had caused so many problems for Manchester United, Villarreal and Celtic in the Champions League, with Caca missing an early chance and then forcing Aranzubia in to a good save before the break.

Early in the second half though Due collected a long cross and pulled the ball back past a committed Piscu before drilling a low shot past the keeper. That finally woke Depor up, and they came close to equalising when Mista flicked the ball over his head on to the bar, and Valerón blasted the follow up over the top.

Sergio fired a shot just wide and Omar Bravo came close with a back-heel, but the Spaniards were dealt the sucker-punch when Enevoldesen set up Due for his second of the night a few minutes later. And with the game coming to an end Curth fell rather theatrically in the penalty area under Aranzubia's challenge, and Jakobsen wrapped things up from the spot. With Mista joining an already long injury list, it will take a near miracle to turn this one around in the Riazor next week.
