Valencia virtually ensured a place in the league stage of the new Europa League after a 0-3 win at Stabaek. Unai Emery's side totally dominated the game throughout, David Villa firing in four or five shots before Pablo Hernández got on the end of Mata's cross to beat Knudsen at the second attempt. Villa finally got his reward with a second goal close to half time, and had another strike ruled out for offside before substitute Joaquín ran in the third after another first class assist from Mata.
