Athletic Bilbao are only a couple of points away from reaching the knock-out stage after drawing 1-1 in Portugal. Honours were shared in the first half, Micael going close and Llorente hit the post.

Llorente limped off injured though before half time, and there was little action until Gorka gave away a penalty on Pecnik. Edgar converted the spot kick at the second attempt, but Nacional were left with ten men after Nuno Pinto picked up a second booking. And Athletic were awarded their own penalty with five minutes to go, Etxeberría equalising after De Cerio was fouled.

That set up a frantic finish, with Gorka saving from Pecnik and Edgar and Bracali keeping out De Marcos. A good result for the Basque side though, and a draw in Vienna next time around should see them through.
