Valencia top their group after beating Lille 3-1 on day five, although they still need a draw at Genoa in their last game to be sure of going through.

In the absence of the suspended Villa, Joaquín turned goalscorer, turning in Mata's cross in only the second minute, and adding a second after an excellent first touch from Marchena's long pass.

Early in the second half Mata wrapped things up after running on to Bruno's long punt and leaving two defenders for dead before beating Landreu, and Mavuba's injury time consolation came too late to change the result.
