Post script. Not a very successful season for him, and has yet to establish himself in the first team. Stays at the club however, and hopeful to make his mark in the new season.

10.06. Played the full match against Oviedo as Del Bosque gave a game to to some of his non-regular players in his squad. However picked up a fifth yellow card and will be suspended for the last match.

27.05. Non playing substitute as Real Madrid won the league title with a 5-0 victory over Alavés.

20.05. With Helguera suspended, played the full match at Rayo Vallecano in defensive midfield alongside Makelele.

13.05. Sat on the bench throughout the games with Bayern Munich and Espanyol without making an appearance.

06.05. Non playing substitute in the Champions League semi-final home leg against Bayern Munich. Played the full 90 minutes in the league defeat against Celta as Del Bosque rested key players. Started in the midfield anchorman position alongside Flavio, but dropped back to a more defensive role for the last half hour after Roberto Carlos was sent off and Helguera was replaced by Guti.

29.04. Represented Real Madrid in Hagi's farewell testimonial midweek. Substitute again at the weekend against Osasuna, playing the last 15 minutes in place of Iván Campo as Madrid tried unsuccessfully to get the winning goal.

22.04. Non playing substitute both in the midweek Champions League game against Galatasaray and in the league at Zaragoza. Appears to have fallen behind Flavio in the pecking order, the Brazilian coming in to the midfield spot at the weekend as Helguera dropped back to cover for the injured Hierro.

15.04. Went back to substitute for the game against Villarreal. Lost out to Flavio when the substitutions were made, not getting on the pitch at all.

08.04. Came on for Makelele for the last half hour in the Champions League game at Galatasay with the score 1-2. However Madrid let in two more goals to lose the leg 3-2. With Makelele and Hierro injured, played in the double anchor role against Las Palmas in the league alongside Flavio, with Helguera dropping back to defence. Madrid didn't play too well, but won the game by a single goal. Celades didn't stand out particularly.

01.04. After a two week rest for international matches, came on as substitute for Iván Helguera against Numancia in the league as Del Bosque rested players for the Champions League game.

18.03. With Makelele suspended for the last of the group games against Anderlecht in the Champions League, kept his place in midfield and played the whole game again. Non playing substitute in their defeat at Mallorca.

11.03. Came in for the suspended Iván Helguera in the Champions League match against Leeds United. Played the last quarter of the match against Real Sociedad at the weekend, substituting Solari at left back.

04.03. Non playing substitute in the game against Barcelona.

25.02. Came on for Helguera in the second half against Lazio in the Olympic stadium in Rome. Played the full 90 minutes on Sunday in place of the suspended Makelele in the league game against Deportivo.

18.02. After failing to get on for a minute again against Lazio in the Champions League, finally played for the last ten minutes against Racing Santander in the league.

11.02. Once again stayed on the bench for the match at Bilbao.

04.02. Non-playing substitute for match against Málaga.

28.01. Came on for the last quarter of the match against Zaragoza midweek in place of Makelele. Non-playing substitute against Valencia at the weekend.

21.01. Started the match against Valladolid in place of the suspended Helguera, as expected. Didn't do too much though, and was substituted 13 minutes before time by McManaman.

14.01. Still can't find a place in the side, and was a non-playing substitute against Oviedo. May get a chance however next week as Helguera suspended.

07.01. Came on for last five minutes in match against Alavés, replacing Raúl.

24.12. Came on for the last half hour in place of Makelele in the league match against Rayo Vallecano.

17.12. Played at right back in Madrid's disastrous Spanish cup match against Toledo, which they lost 2-1. Was replaced halfway through the second half by one of Real Madrid's youngsters, Miñambres. Was on the bench for the league match against Espanyol, but paid the price for the cup defeat and did not get on.

10.12. Came on for last ten minutes of Champion's League game against Anderlecht, replacing Makelele in central midfield, his first appearance since his injury.

28.11. After intensive treatment to his injury, he has finally returned to fitness, joining the squad for the intercontinental cup in Tokyo, even though he did not come off the bench.

05.11. Still injured and missed both midweek and weekend league matches.

29.10. Played in the Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon, but he aggravated his old injury later in the week and missed the weekend game against Real Sociedad.

22.10. Came on at half time in Champions League against Leverkusen, and played the whole match against his old team FC Barcelona on Saturday. The focus on Figo's return meant that the pressure was off him, but he still received a few boos when he touched the ball.

15.10. Still injured.

01.10. Injured all week and has been unable to play.

24.09. Del Bosque is moving around his midfield players to give them a break, but Celades played in both games this week (Spartak Moscow and Bilbao) in a double pivot position together with Makelele. Picked up a ligament strain against Bilbao and is doubtful for the next match.

One of Barcelona's rising stars a couple of years ago, he clashed with manager Louis Van Gaal and decided to leave. After one year with Celta, he signed a lucrative contract with Real Madrid when Lorenzo Sanz was club president. Despite the change in management he has still come to Madrid, and his early pre-season form earned him a recall to the full Spanish squad after a two year absence. Although more at home in a defensive midfield role, he is versatile and sometimes played at right back at Celta.
