12.05. Missed the last game of the season at Osasuna due to a knee injury. Alavés qualify for the UEFA cup, although he will not be there to help them next season. All signs are that he will join Atlético Madrid, but other clubs are standing by in case the deal falls through. No doubt though that he is going to be a big star in the future.

05.05. Playing his last home match against Rayo, and was given a warm send off by fans. Still no news where he will end up, and Barcelona are rumoured to be interested as well as Atlético.

28.04. Missed the game at Sevilla through injury, and needless to say his team lost without him.

21.04. Announced that Alavés will not be taking up the purchase option, and will return to Milan. Rumours though that he will be returning to Spain, maybe to Atlético Madrid. Played the full match in their win against Zaragoza which takes them nearer to the European spots.

14.04. Lined up against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the league. Had a reasonable game but was beaten by his under 20 teammate Saviola for what was the winning goal.

07.04. Another goal this week against Villarreal, his sixth of the season making him the team's joint top scorer. This time though his late strike gave his side a 2-1 victory, taking them back up to eighth in the league, just outside the UEFA spots on goal difference.

31.03. Scored a last minute consolation goal in the game at Celta, which his side lost 3-1. More transfer rumours about next season, with Milan saying they would rather renew his loan deal for another season at Alavés than sell him outright. Alavés have a rather cheap purchase option, and the Italian club are concerned that they will buy him to sell him on to a big club at a profit. It appears that Milan want to keep their tabs on him for the future.

24.03. A much needed away victory at Espanyol with a makeshift side due to suspensions, and an injury to keeper Kike early on. A key man in defence once again.

17.03. A disastrous local derby against Bilbao, with his team two goals up then losing after ending the game with eight men. Coloccini played the whole match.

10.03. Played the full 90 minutes again at Las Palmas, but Alavés lost for the fifth time in six games. Linked with a possible move to Real Madrid next season though, with Valdano travelling to Milan to talk about possible terms.

03.03. Back in the side for the game against Valladolid, which his team won 3-1.

24.02. Suspended for one game so missed the visit to Real Madrid. No news on the other fronts.

17.02. Got into trouble midweek after Musampa accused him and two others of racist insults during the game with Málaga. Although he apologised immediately and the Dutch midfielder said he did not want to take the matter any further, the disciplinary committee have opened an investigation. Matters got worse when his side lost their third home game in a row, this time to Betis, and he got sent off four minutes from the end after picking up two yellow cards in a minute for crunching tackles. Not his best week.

10.02. Team have gone off the boil recently with four home defeats in last five games. This time they lost 1-2 to Valencia midweek with the now first choice back four of Geli-Coloccini-Téllez-Llorens. Coloccini recovered from a knock at the weekend to play. The same team lined up at the weekend at Málaga but lost again to a last minute Dely Valdés goal. Coloccini picked up his seventh yellow card of the season.

03.02. A good 0-1 victory at Deportivo La Coruña, with Coloccini playing the whole game in the heart of defence.

27.01. Played in the midweek league game at Rayo, postponed from day 18. Team lost 2-0 though, missing out once again on a chance to go joint top. A disastrous performance at the weekend, losing 0-4 at home to Mallorca. Coloccini played the full 90 minutes.

20.01. Played a key part in the 1-2 win at Real Sociedad, making a vital tackle on Kovacevic early in the second half.

13.01. Again on for the whole game in the 1-0 victory over Tenerife.

06.01. Played the full 90 minutes against local rivals Osasuna, but did not hve a great game and his side lost at home.

23.12. The match between Rayo and Alavés was called off due to bad weather so didn't play.

16.12. Was criticised by Gallardo for an over-aggressive tackle in the bad-tempered match against Sevilla, which Alavés lost 0-1 to lose their top spot.

09.12. Another clean sheet as his side held on to the top spot with a 0-2 away win at Zaragoza.

02.12, Left out of the cup squad due to a groin strain. His team were knocked out without him. Played another excellent game in the league against Barcelona, keeping out Rivaldo, Kluivert and all as his team won 2-0 to move to the top of the table for the first time in over 70 years.

25.11. His agent Marcelo Lombilla will meet with the club next week to discuss buy-out clause. Played at the weekend at Villarreal, starting in three man central defence and ending up at right back. Team were beaten 1-0 though, losing an opportunity to go top of the table.

18.11. Another clean sheet for the Vitoria based side, with Alavés going second in the league after a 1-0 victory over Celta. AC Milan confirmed that Manchester United are the only club to make a formal bid for him, although rumours still abound that he will be moving to a big Spanish outfit next season.

11.11. Made his debut in the Spanish cup, with his team scoring in the last minute to defeat a difficult Compostela 1-2. Back in the league side for the game at home to Espanyol as the first snow arrived at Vitoria. Gave away another penalty early in the game, but Alavés recovered to win 2-1 in a controversial match, with Espanyol ending up with nine men.

04.11. Suspended for the derby game at Bilbao after picking up a fifth yellow card the week before. Karmona replaced him, but without his presence in defence Alavés lost their second game of the season.

28.10. Got the only goal in the 1-0 victory against Las Palmas, heading home a free kick from Pablo. Alavés move up to fourth, and they are seriously considering raising the 15 million Euro buy-out clause to ensure his services for the future. However he has attracted interest from big clubs such as Real Madrid who would be prepared to pay well above that, and they could end up exercising the clause to sell him on and make what would be a big profit for a small club. Milan are apparently regretting agreeing to the purchase option.

21.10. Scored twice to win the man-of-the-match award in the 1-3 victory at Valladolid, the first from a header and the second a scrambled goal in the penalty area. Dedicated the goals to his deceased mother, whose picture he has had tattooed on his chest.

14.10. Put in a great performance in the home game against Real Madrid which ended 0-0. Was a constant shadow for Raúl, and received acclaim from the press after the game.

07.10. Failed a late fitness test and missed the midweek league game which Alavés won 1-0 against Málaga. Returned to play against Betis, with the leadership of the first division at stake. However gave away a penalty ten minutes from the end and his team lost by a single goal.

30.09. Played alongside Téllez again in the 0-0 draw away at Valencia. Now firmly established in Mané's first choice back four.

23.09. Again played the full 90 minutes in the midweek 0-0 draw at Mallorca, and contributed to his team's third clean sheet in a row. Played again at the weekend against Deportivo and scored his first goal for his new club, a late headed goal to level the scores at 2-2. Unfortunatley Depor scored again to give Alavés their first defeat of the season.

15.09. Powerful young central defender who captained Argentina's under 20 World Cup winning side this summer. Under contract to AC Milan, but moved to Alavés on a one year loan with 2,500 million Peseta buy-out clause somewhat against his will. Came straight in to Mané's side for the first two matches, away at Tenerife and at home to Real Sociedad, both of which they won by two goals to nil, taking the team to the top places in the league.
