Post script. Has
renewed loan for another season and hopes to feature more this season. Already
back playing for Mexico.
01.04. No further
news.
18.03. Back in
training and played 15 minutes in a practise match. Still not match fit though.
14.01. Back in
Spain undergoing physiotherapy. Expected to be fit again by May, so could be
back playing for the last month of the season.
07.01. Returns to
Spain next week to keep up his rehabilitation after training in Mexico with his
club América. His agents are still renegotiating the extension of his
loan contract to June 2002.
03.12. Agents are
currently negotiating a one year renewal with club.
29.10. The plaster
cast is now off, and his recuperation begins. A nice gesture from Kaviedes in
the weekend match, lifting his shirt after scoring and revealing a
Cuauhtémoc shirt underneath.
13.10. The injury
to Cuauhtémoc's knee is confirmed, and he will be out for at least six
months. Yesterday doctors operated immediately to repare the broken cruciate
ligament and knee cap which were both destroyed by Trinidad and Tobago defender
Ansil Elcock's tackle. Mexican authorities are appealing for Elcock to be
suspended for six months, even though the referee did not sanction the player
during the match. Although the tackle was horrendous, Elcock, who plays his
football in USA, does not have a bad reputation and has never been sent off in
his career. Blanco is not expected to play again this season, and will probably
be replaced in the Valladolid squad under rules which allow clubs to substitute
injured players outside of the normal transfer periods.
12.10. Played for
Mexico, scored two goals and was injured in a bad tackle. Tests currently being
made on his knee, but he could be out for up to six months if worst fears are
confirmed. Valladolid have to decide by December whether to exercise a 6.5
million Dollar transfer option, and they are asking América if it would
be possible to extend this deadline by another six months.
01.10. Came on
early in the second half in the 0-0 draw against Villarreal but didn't do very
much. His did however repeat his two footed kangaroo dribble, which was shown
on the television highlights.
24.09. With
Kaviedes and Pachón getting goals, Blanco has had to sit out the first
league games on the bench. Came on for the last 20 minutes against Las Palmas
and showed some good touches.
Mexican forward who
came to fame in the last world cup with his two footed kangaroo dribble,
leaping past a defender with the ball clasped between his feet. Has already
played almost 50 times for Mexico, and is a local hero in his country. The only
doubts are about his fitness, with a knee injury keeping him out for some time.
So far he has only played five minutes as substitute in the first match of the
league, and we have yet to see the real Cuauhtémoc. Has signed on loan
for one season, with a purchase option which must be exercised in December if
he is to stay. |
