12.05. Once again left out of the squad for the last match against Villarreal. His future is unsure at the moment, but will go to the World cup first of all, where he will wear the number 15 shirt for Uruguay.

05.05. With little chance of making the UEFA spots, Caparrós decided to put out a side of players who are staying on. Olivera has not agreed to renew his contract and was therefore left out of the squad. Expected to move on next season, although nothing concrete at the moment.

28.04. Started the game against Alavés on the bench, coming on for Toedtli ten minutes from the end with Sevilla already two goals up.

21.04. Called up by Uruguay and played the last half hour in the 1-1 draw at Italy. Expected to be back in the Sevilla side for the game at Bilbao, but Caparrós left him on the bench and did not need him as his side won 0-1.

14.04. Suspended after picking up a tenth yellow card the week before and missed the game against Las Palmas.

07.04. Started up front alongside Toedtli as Caparrós dropped Reyes and Moisés. Again did not do much in a 1-1 draw.

31.03. Started the home game against Real Madrid on the left of midfield, switching to attack in the second half in place of Moisés. Was not seen much though as his side failed to score for the fourth game in a row.

24.03. Started the local derby at Betis on the left of midfield, being taken off in injury time to waste the final moments.

17.03. Got off with a fine in the ongoing court case, but will appeal. Lost his place at the weekend as Reyes and Moisés were both fit, coming on ten minutes in to the second half on the left of midfield for Luis Gil. However the move didn't work and Sevilla lost.

10.03. Reyes returned, but Olivera kept his place for the game at Valencia as Moisés was injured. Replaced though by Toedtli in the second half.

03.03. Was in aggressive mood against Deportivo, starting up front alongside Moisés. Unlucky not to score.

24.02. Played almost the full match at Mallorca which his side won 0-4. Hit the bar with a good shot and then scored the second goal before being replaced by Luis Gil five minutes from the end.

17.02. Went back home to play for Uruguay against World Cup co-hosts South Korea, and set up the winning goal for Abreu in a 2-1 victory. Played the whole game against Real Sociedad on Sunday, but once again was unlucky not to score and Sevilla lost 0-1.

10.02. With Reyes in hospital, he started the game against Osasuna. Hit the woodwork three times in eighteen minutes in the second half, but couldn't score and was eventually taken off six minutes from the end to be replaced by Torrado. Fell out with his manager after protesting about his substitution midweek, and was left out of the weekend squad to play Tenerife as a punishment.

03.02. Non playing substitute for the game at Rayo Vallecano.

27.01. News came through of court case against him, Otero and Zalayeta, now fixed for 7th March. Incident dates back to December 1999, when players were involved in a brawl with three local youths who insulted the players and their wives. The three youths were injured, one badly, and the Uruguayan players are being accused of grievous bodily harm. Their lawyers are trying to settle out of court. Second half substitute for Moisés at the weekend, coming on against Espanyol with the game already won.

20.01. Came on for injured Reyes ten minutes before half time against Zaragoza and scored two vital goals in the first seven minutes of the second half. Team won 4-2, and Olivera wants more regular first team place.

13.01. With Moisés and Reyes both out, he expected to start the game at Barcelona. However his manager preferred Víctor and Luis Gil, and he eventually game on for the last 25 minutes with his side losing.

06.01. Started as substitute at Villarreal, but came on with just over a quarter of an hour gone for the injured Reyes. Did not contribute himself to the goals, but his team won 0-2. Several transfer rumours during the Christmas break, including possible contacts with Altético Madrid and Lecce, as he finishes his contract in the summer.

23.12. Left out of the squad entirely and had to watch the game from the stands.

16.12. Suspended so didn't play.

09.12. Came on at half time for Podestá with the match against Bilbao goal-less. The teams shared six goals after the break, and although he didn't have a hand in any, his appearance on the field sparked off the improvement in the game. However he picked up a fifth yellow card of the season which means he misses the next match.

02.12. Back in Spain but didn't play in the weekend league match.

25.11. Still with Uruguay for the double header with Australia.

18.11. Back on international duty and replaced by Reyes in the match at Real Madrid.

11.11. Released from international duty and back in the starting line up for the derby clash with Betis. Played the full 90 minutes, and got involved in a clash with Betis players when he fell suspiciously in the area (again).

04.11. Called up by Uruguay for the World cup qualifiers. Could have played in the match at Málaga as it happened following the FIFA ruling to allow players to join the squads a day later, but the decision came too late and he had already left the country.

28.10. Started the match against Valencia and had a shot cleared off the line in the first half. However was replaced by Reyes at half time.

21.10. His good start to the season has earned him a place in the first team, and he played the full match at Deportivo La Coruña. However he wasted an easy chance which could have been their equaliser, failing to control the ball cleanly when alone in front of the keeper.

14.10. Rested for the midweek cup match at Cuidad de Murcia which Sevilla lost. Started the game against Mallorca and provoked yet another penalty, his third in a row and his fourth of the season, falling at the feet of Miguel Soler. Took the kick himself for his fifth of the season, making him the league's leading Pichichi.

07.10. Court case coming up against him, Zalayeta and Otero for fighting in a discotheque two years ago could be a problem, with the prosecution asking for an eight year sentence. On the field of play he came on as substitute again against Tenerife and won himself a penalty which he converted for his third of the season. That won him a place in the starting line up at Real Sociedad, and he repeated the act with his third penalty of the season and his fourth overall after Loren pushed him down.

30.09. Left out of the Uruguay squad for the World Cup qualifying game against Colombia. Currently negotiating an extension to his contract with Sevilla, who want him to sign for another three years. On the bench again for the game at Osasuna. Coming on in the second half but missing an open goal in the last minute which would have given his side a draw.

23.09. Came on as substitute at half time against Espanyol, and scored the winning goal as they went on to win 2-3, their first victory of the season. Stayed on the bench against Rayo, again replacing Gallardo at half time with his team losing, and made the equaliser for Moisés before Fredi got the winner.

15.09. Expected to be transferred during the close season, but stays on and returns to the first division. Scored the equaliser against Barcelona from the penalty spot in the first game, although his team lost in the end. Started against Zaragoza, substituted fifteen minutes from the end by Antonio.
