Post Script. Has now joined Barça's first team squad officially, with shirt number 24. He will not start the season with them though, as he has picked for the Olympic squad and will be spending the month of September in Australia. Will have to fight for his place when he gets back, especially with Serra Ferrer only playing three at the back.

28.05. Called up for the Spanish under 21 squad for the upcoming European championship.

21.05. Came on at half time against Celta and helped his team come back from two goals down.

14.05. Picked up an injury before the Champions League match with Valencia and missed both games this week.

07.05. Was substituted by Bogarde at half time against Valencia after failing to stop Kily on his wing and then giving away a penalty on Angulo. Van Gaal still persisted with him, and he played the full 90 minutes against Rayo.

30.04. Was one of the magnificent ten who stood on the touchline in the abandoned cup semi-final. Played the 90 minutes in the league this weekend.

23.04. Played the first 85 minutes against Chelsea midweek, picking up an injury and being substituted by Abelardo. Recovered in time to play 90 minutes against Sevilla.

16.04. Played the whole match against Atlético midweek, but was criticised for letting newcomer Luque run loose on the left. Rested for the match against Oviedo, with Reiziger coming in at right back.

09.04. Started the match against Chelsea but was replaced by Litmanen at half time, with Gabri dropping to right back. Played the full 90 minutes against Mallorca.

02.04. Didn't get on the field for the under 21 game. Missed Sunday's match with Valencia through suspension.

26.03. Rested in the Champions League, but played 90 minutes against Málaga. Picked up a fifth yellow card and will miss the next match. Called up for the under 21 side for the second time.

19.03. Played 90 minutes in Champions League against Hertha and again in league against Deportivo.

12.03. Enters the scout's page following a request. Puyol was due to go out on loan at the start of this season (with Málaga?) in order for him to get some experience. However the deal fell through as they could not agree terms, and he stayed alternating between the first and the B teams. Got an early opportunity with the first team due to the lack of full backs, and has gradually won himself a place in the team. His performances got him noticed at international level, and he played his first match for the Spanish under 21 side recently. His long bushy head of hair makes him easily spottable on the field of play. This week he played the full 90 minutes both in the Champions League against Oporto, and in the league against Athletic Bilbao.
