30.06.03. The end of a good season for the youngster, finishing with eleven goals (nine in the league and two in the cup). A lot of speculation about a possible transfer, either to a big club in Spain or even to Arsenal, although at the moment he looks like staying at Sevilla.

15.06.03. Scored again at the weekend from the penalty spot in the local derby at Málaga, but his side lost 3-2 and now have no chance of reaching the UEFA spots.

08.06.03. Started for the under 21 side against Greece, and had a hand in the first goal. Picked up another yellow card which means he will miss the Northern Ireland game, and was substituted by Jorge twenty minutes from the end.

01.06.03. Played all but the last couple of minutes in the local derby against Recreativo, and had to issue an apology after the match after provoking Pernía with comments about the team being relegated. Was booked for the incident, his fifteenth yellow card of the season.

25.05.03. Another great performance from the youngster as Sevilla beat Mallorca 1-3 to keep their hopes of European football alive. Reyes scored the second goal with a quickly taken free kick and set up Antoñito for the third.

18.05.03. Left on the bench for the game against Rayo as he had not fully recovered from his injury. However came on at half time with his team behind and within three minutes scored the equaliser. Won a penalty later on which he scored from himself to put his side two goals ahead, but Rayo came back late on to draw 3-3.

11.05.03. Started the league match against Barcelona, but got injured in a tackle with Puyol early on and had to be substituted.

04.05.03. Rumoured to be in line for a first ever call up to the Spanish international side with so many forwards injured. However was eventually picked for the under 21s and couldn't even play in that match in the end as he picked up an injury. Recovered in time for the away game against Real Sociedad, but was replaced for the last quarter of an hour by Toedtli with his side a goal down.

27.04.03. Returned to the side for the big game against Real Madrid in the Cartuja stadium, and set up the equalising goal for Gallardo with a clever piece of play. Sevilla lost 1-3 in the end though.

20.04.03. Suspended once again after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season the week before.

13.04.03. Another good game for the lad in his side's 3-1 home win against Villarreal, scoring the first goal and making the last for Machlas.

06.04.03. Once again in the line up for Spain's under 21 game against Armenia, partnered by Portillo this time. Won a penalty before half time and left the field to be replaced by Jorge with an hour gone. Spain won 5-0. In the side for the league game at Racing, which Sevilla lost 1-0.

23.03.03. Has been called up for the under 21 international double header against Ukraine and Armenia. Played the full game at home to Alavés, and scored the equaliser from the penalty spot late on. Sevilla eventually won with an injury time own goal.

16.03.03. Another full game away at Valladolid, which Sevilla drew 0-0. Reyes did test keeper Bizzarri a couple of times to no avail.

09.03.03. Reyes is becoming an important part of the Sevilla team, and he scored a first half penalty as his side beat Osasuna 2-0, their third win in a row.

02.03.03. Played the full ninety minutes in the derby game at Betis, which Sevilla won.

23.02.03. Back in the side, and was a constant nightmare for Espanyol's Torricelli, who was eventually sent off after two bookings. Sevilla won the game 1-0, and Reyes was substituted by Víctor Salas in injury time as a time wasting exercise.

16.02.03. Played the full game for Spain's under 21 side in the friendly against Germany, scoring the first goal and making the second for Riera in a 3-1 win. Was suspended for the match against Athletic Bilbao and didn't play.

09.02.03. Called up for Spain's under 21 friendly international against Germany next week. Started against Atlético Madrid and had a good game, but spoilt it later on picking up two quick bookings and getting himself sent off. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

02.02.03. Played most of the game in the 0-1 victory at Celta, being replaced by Víctor five minutes from the end, more to waste time than anything else.

26.01.03. Started the cup quarter final first leg against Osasuna, and scored his side's first goal in the first half. However he had to leave the pitch with an injury after the break, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Rested at the weekend for the match at Valencia.

19.01.03. Given a rest midweek, and was left out of the squad for the cup match against Numancia. Played the full game against Málaga at the weekend which ended in a 0-0 draw.

05.01.03. Played twice this week, first of all on Thursday in the defeat at Real Madrid and then in Sevilla's Sunday afternoon victory over Mallorca. Scored only his second goal of the season, heading in Fredi's cross early in the game at the weekend, and generally had one of his best games so far.

22.12. Played all but the last five minutes of the vital victory at Rayo, playing an active part in the game.

15.12. Started the game at Barcelona, and won an early penalty which put his side on their way to a historic 0-3 win. Substituted by Víctor Salas near the end.

08.12. In the side for the match against leaders Real Sociedad. The team lost though, and are now down in the relegation spots.

01.12. No game this week as opponents Real Madrid away in Japan. Barcelona the latest club to show interest in him for next season.

24.11. Not picked for Spain's under 21 friendly with Bulgaria as the managers wanted to try out new players. Missed the game against Deportivo as was suspended.

17.11. Played the full game, partnering Moisés up front, in the disappointing defeat at Villarreal. Picked up a fifth yellow card for the season, and will miss the next match.

10.11.Was given a rest for the cup tie at Linares, which Sevilla won. Back in for the league game against Racing, which his side won 1-0.

03.11. Played the first hour of the game at Alavés, being substituted by Víctor Salas with the scores level. Sevilla lost though to a last minute goal. An Arsenal scout was spotted in the stands watching him, fuelling rumours that the English club are still very interested.

27.10. Combined with Antoñito to great effect as Sevilla won their first match of the season. Set up the second goal for his strike colleague and generally impressed.

20.10. Recovered in time for the league match at Osasuna, where he was reunited with his old Sevilla B colleague Antoñito, who was making his first start at centre forward for the first team. The two youngsters had scored 51 goals between them in one season when Sevilla B were promoted from the third division. Reyes set up Sevilla's goal for Alfaro from a corner kick, but the team lost in the end.

13.10. Pulled out of Spain's under-21 squad after picking up an injury.

06.10. Called up for Spain's under 21 matches against Northern Ireland and Slovenia.

29.09. Returned to the starting line up for the game at Espanyol, and played the full game. A 0-0 draw though, with few opportunities for the youngster.

22.09. Had a bust up with his manager Joaquín Caparrós, who said Reyes must grow up after the player complained in the press about hard tackling. As a result he was left on the bench at the start of the game against Athletic. However was brought on at half time, and eager to make a point, he scored an excellent goal within five minutes.

15.09. Played the first half of the cup match at Jaén, being replaced by Moisés at the break. Up against his under-21 strike partner Fernando Torres (Atlético Madrid) at the weekend, being replaced for the last 20 minutes by Antoñito with the scores level at 1-1.

08.09. Back in Spain's under-21 side for the Euro 2004 opener against Greece. A poor result though, with Spain losing 1-0 and not getting many efforts on goal.

01.09. Now a regular in Spain's under-21 side, and started the friendly game against Hungary together with his strike partner Fernando Torres. Scored the only goal of the game, turning in a cross from Miñambres in the first half. Replaced by Portillo at half time. Was included in Sevilla's starting line up at home to Celta on the left of the attack and played the whole match, although his side lost 0-1.

Another young man under the spotlight, Reyes is a home-grown product of the Sevilla youth scheme. Was a member of the Spanish side which won the recent European under-21 Championships. partnering Fernando Torres in attack, and like Torres he has also played at under-21 level for his country. Targeted by many big clubs this summer, in particular Arsenal, many observers expect this to be his last season with the Andalucian club.
