12.05. Played in the last game of the season at home to Betis, a festival occasion with the league title already won. Scored the second goal in the last minute of the match to ensure victory. Didn't get the call up for the World cup squad though, a disappointment as he had done well in the last couple of matches and Spain are weak on the left hand side.

05.05. Kept his place in the side for the vital match at Málaga. Set up the first goal with a corner which Ayala scored from, and had a good game as Valencia were proclaimed champions for the first time in 31 years. Could still be a late contender for a World cup place.

28.04. Given a run out against Espanyol as Kily rested. However was replaced midway through the second half by Kily González with his side one down, and Kily set up two goals for Valencia to come back and win the game.

21.04. His lack of first team appearances have cost him his place in the Spanish side, and he may now miss out on the World cup. Left out by Benítez again at the weekend for the vital clash with Deportivo, replacing Kily for the last five minutes as a time wasting move more than anything.

14.04. Substitute for the game against Mallorca, replacing Kily at the break after a disappointing first half. Valencia came back to draw 1-1.

07.04. Left on the bench again as Kily returned to the side, and was not needed as Valencia went on to beat Real Sociedad 4-0.

31.03. Came on in Spain's friendly against Holland with twenty minutes to go, replacing De Pedro on the left of midfield. Expected to be in Camacho's squad for the upcoming World Cup. Started the weekend game at Tenerife, being taken off ten minutes from the end after Aimar scored the only goal of the game.

24.03. Kily's one match ban in Europe meant that Vicente also started the UEFA cup second leg tie at home to Inter Milan. They lost however and are out of Europe this season. Back to being non-playing substitute again for the weekend game with Osasuna as Kily returned from suspension. Was called up by Camacho for Spain's friendly against Holland next week despite not playing regularly for his club.

17.03. On the bench for the UEFA cup quarter final tie at Inter Milan, coming on with half an hour to go for Aimar after Kily González got himself sent off. Valencia recovered to draw 1-1, a good result for the second leg. Kily was suspended at the weekend as well after picking up five yellow cards in the league, and Vicente started and played the whole game at Rayo. They lost however, and were knocked off the top of the division by Real Madrid.

10.03. Non playing substitute in the victory over Sevilla.

03.03. Played the full 90 minutes in the second leg of the UEFA cup tie at Servette, having a hand in the second goal in a 2-2 draw. Back to substitute at the weekend at Zaragoza, coming on for the last ten minutes in place of Kily with his side winning.

24.02. Rested for Valencia's UEFA cup home tie against Servette, coming on midway through the second half for Mista with his team already 3-0 up. Also left on the bench for the game with Barcelona, Kily González preferred for the left midfield position. Although Vicente was due to come on for the last few minutes, an injury to Ayala meant that he had to stay where he was and Fabio Aurelio came on instead.

17.02. Played the first half of the friendly international between Spain and Portugal, and seems odds-on to be in the World Cup squad. Raced back for Saturday's game at neighbours Villarreal and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw which took his side back to the top of the first division.

10.02. Played the full 90 minutes in the away victory at Alavés which took Valencia to the top of the table. Called up by Camacho for Spain's friendly game with Portugal on Friday, and given a rest at the weekend, coming on for the last 15 minutes for Salva in the 0-0 draw against Celta.

03.02. Started on the bench against Athletic Bilbao, coming on for the last 20 minutes or so in place of Rufete with his side two goals up.

27.01. Started on the bench at Las Palmas as nursing a twisted ankle. Received a pain-killing injection in the second half to enable him to come on, but eventually Benítez didn't use him, and the player left the field visibly angry, kicking over a water bottle on the way off. Had to apologise the next day to his manager.

20.01. Started the match against Valladolid, being replaced by Kily midway through the second half with his team behind.

13.01. Started the game at Real Madrid, but was replaced by Aimar for the last quarter of an hour after they fell behind.

06.01. Played the full match in the away win at Betis, switching to the right wing when Kily came on for Rufete in the second half.

23.12. Scored directly from a free kick as his side came back from behind to beat Málaga 2-1. Once again stayed on for all the game.

16.12. Another 90 minutes as his side came from two down to beat Espanyol 2-3. Set up the second goal for Rufete.

09.12. Played the full game on the right of midfield in the heart-stopping UEFA cup match at Celta. His kick was saved by keeper Douglas in the penalty shoot out, but Valencia went on to win and qualify for the next round. With several injuries to midfield players, he repeated on the right of midfield (Fabio Aurelio played on the left) in the league game at Deportivo, which his side lost 1-0.

02.12. Started the game on the left of midfield against Mallorca, switching to the right at half time as Kily González came on for Angulo.

25.11. With Kily out of favour after arguing with his manager, Vicente started the UEFA cup match against Celtic and scored the only goal 15 minutes from the end, his first of the season.

18.11. Started for the under 21 side in the second leg match in Portugal which Spain lost on the away goal rule. Will probably be his last game at that level, and should now concentrate on the full Spanish squad. Was substitute at the weekend in the club game against Tenerife, coming on for a less than happy Kily González with half an hour to go.

11.11. Chosen for the Spanish under 21 side, and played in the first leg of the play-off match against Portugal at Jaén.

04.11. Didn't play either in the UEFA cup 6-1 rout of Legia Warsaw, but returned for last 20 minutes in the league game versus Rayo Vallecano which they won with a last minute Juan Sánchez goal.

28.10. Didn't play in the match against Sevilla.

21.10. Was carried off in the 20th minute in Thursday's UEFA cup tie at Legia Warsaw, and had to have nine stitches put in a cut to his forehead. Recovered enough on Sunday to take a place on the substitutes' bench against Zaragoza, coming on for the last quarter of an hour for Rufete and making the second goal for Kily González.

14.10. Played in the cup at Novelda. Was replaced by Serban in the last minute to waste time, a disastrous decision as Valencia already had 3 non-EU players on, and with Serban making four they broke the rules and will probably forfeit the match. Replaced by Kily for the match at Barcelona, coming on for the last few minutes in place of Rufete.

07.10. With Kily on international duty with Argentina, played the full 90 minutes at Celta midweek and made the first goal for Juan Sánchez. They drew 1-1 in the end. Also played the full game against Villarreal which ehich they won 1-0.

30.09. Didn't play in the UEFA cup second leg against Chernomorets, and started in the weekend league game against Alavés, being replaced once again by Kily in the second half.

23.09. Reported to have had a bust-up with Kily as he was substituted in the last match, but has since made up. The two players shook hands cordially as Vicente came on for Kily in the second half of the rescheduled game against Chernomorets. Played the full 90 minutes in the league match at Athletic Bilbao, which they drew 2-2.

15.09. Brilliant youngster who plays out on the left of midfield. Made his debut for Spain last season, and played in the game against Austria at the start of this month. Switched back to the under 21 side for their vital game at France, but lost 3-0. Keeping Kily González out of the Valencia side, and made the winning goal for Angulo in the first match against Real Madrid. Started at Valladolid but replaced by Kily at half time, conserving his strength for the UEFA cup game in Russia (which was eventually postponed).
