Hi pichichi, best site in the world, but you know that already. I have read the answer to this somewhere before but cannot remember the answer. The question is : What is the difference between Athletic (Bilbao) and Atletico (Madrid) ??? Help because its doing my head in !!!!! Thanks in advance

Hi Danny, thanks for the kind words. What do you mean what is the difference between the two? One is Athletic Bilbao, a football club based in Bilbao, and one is Atlético Madrid, a totally different football club based in Madrid! We imagine though you are referring to the name - Athletic took on an English title as there was a strong English influence in their foundation (particularly from Sunderland - hence the shirts), whereas Atlético is just the Spanish for Athletic. Some say they chose the name and the shirt colours because of links with Athletic.
