Why do Real Madrid get rid of their best youngsters? Was it because of the Galacticos period?! For example Valdo (Osasuna), and Riki (Getafe), both good and still young, however never given a fair crack, they've gone onto better things at their new clubs. A friend of mine went to see Real Madrid play a few years back, and Valdo was starting, not sure why, and he said he was the best player on the park, he said he was exactly like Henry. Also why do Real Madrid not utilise the fact they'r ethe biggest club in the world by using their youth academy, clubs like Villarreal, and Malaga bring through some good youngsters, why doesn't Madrid do this, or are they too interested in splashing the cash elsewhere rather than improving, and bringing through potential talents?!

It's all down to marketing we suppose. Better to sign proven successes rather than take a chance that somebody will come through or not. A lot of young local players do go through the academies of the top clubs, but only a small handful make it, and some who appear world class at youth level don't fulfill their promises (De la Peña and Nano are two who spring to mind). The fans of the big name clubs don't have a lot of patience in Spain!
