First Division - Day Nineteen

Real Sociedad 0 - Oviedo 0

Real Sociedad: Alberto; Guerrero, Loren, Corino, Pikabea, Aranzábal; Gómez, Khokhlov, De Pedro; Sa Pinto, Idiakez. 5-3-2.
Oviedo: Esteban; Keita, Onopko, Danjou; Eskurza, Paulo Bento, Iván Iglesias, Rabarivony; Pompei; Losada, Dely Valdés. 3-4-1-2.

Hey ho, once again Don Javier Clemente lead his side to what is becoming a very boring run of results, with their third score-less draw in four games. Real have now only scored two goals in six games, and have gone six games without a win, and Oviedo have now gone eleven months without an away win. The draw sinks both teams further down the table, and only Sevilla are below them as they both struggle to find a way out. New signing Corino came back into the Real line up after an injury, but he only lasted nine minutes this time before injuring himself again, López Rekarte replacing him. Juan Gómez and De Paula were left on the bench, with Aranburu and Idiakez replacing them, and the other new signing Khokhlov (who looked very good) kept his place in attacking midfield. Oviedo were without their young defender Boris for the first time this season, Keita coming in to replace him. Aragonés was not impressed with his performance however, and replaced him with Bango on the half hour. Iván Iglesias was the other change, taking over from Jaime in midfield. Both goalkeepers were excellent, with Esteban in particular saving from Khokhlov (twice), Sa Pinto and De Pedro, and Alberto keeping out efforts from Pompei, Iván Iglesias and substitute Claessens. Gómez and De Paula came on for Real during the second half, and with all three substitutions made De Pedro injured himself and limped through the last 20 minutes of the game. Despite the result, the home fans applauded their team off the field at the end, true supporters.

Valladolid vs Real Madrid (Postponed until 22nd February)

With Real Madrid still in Brazil participating in the club world championship, this match was postponed until 22nd February. Madrid were unlucky not to win their second match against home side Corinthians, with Anelka finally returning to form and scoring two good goals, but then missing a penalty eight minutes from time. Valladolid meanwhile took the opportunity to rest after their midweek game. Their new signing from Japan's J-league team Yokohama Mariners, Shoji Jo, will join their squad this week, and many fans turned out to greet him on his arrival.
