Second Division - Day Twenty Seven

Levante were the big winners of the day, their 0-1 victory at Getafe, with a late headed goal by Tomás, bringing them level with second placed Las Palmas on a day when none of the top three won. Leaders Salamanca once again lost, this time at home to rejuvenated Recreativo, with Soto scoring the only goal of the match in the second half. Las Palmas could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Atlético B, who kept their nine match undefeated run with a goal five minutes into injury time by Luque. Eloy had scored in the first half for the home team. Extremadura got an identical result against ten man Elche, despite scoring through Duré in the first minute. Salamanca stay on 49 points, still five clear of Las Palmas, Levante and Extremadura, all on 44. Sporting Gijon also moved closer to within a point of second place with a 1-2 victory against Albacete. Three players were sent off, including Lediakhov for the visitors who had earlier scored from the penalty spot, and two from Albacete. Osasuna also won away at Compostela by the same score to move level with Villarreal (losers 2-1 to Eibar) in 6th equal place. Iván Rosado, on loan from Rayo, scored both goals, leaving Compostela two points away from the drop zone. Their manager David Vidal may be sacked tomorrow. Lleida's 1-0 victory against bottom club Toledo moves them up to eighth and leaves their opponents nine points adrift at the bottom, and Tenerife moved in to the top half of the table with a 0-2 victory at Badajoz. Córdoba climbed up to 12th with a last minute goal by Juanito to beat Leganés 2-1, and Logroñes moved deeper into trouble losing at home 1-2 to Mérida, who jump up four places to 13th. Logroñes had another set back in their fight for survival, when the managing director of the group who are interested in buying them out died suddenly during the week. The group had already said that they would not be interested if the club dropped out of the second division, and they are now joint next to bottom, equal on points with Recreativo who have won their last three and are on the way up.
