Valladolid moved away from the bottom spots with a last minute 1-2 victory over Málaga. Both goals were scored by players on loan from Real Madrid, Fernando and Tote, with the first coming from the penalty spot after Tote was brought down by Litos in the first half. Málaga had been trying hard, with Dely Valdés hitting the post early on, but they were unable to break down Ricardo's defence until Canabal came on in the second half. The ex Madrid striker broke through almost immediately, volleying the ball home after Dely had headed it back.

Pepe Moré seemed to settle for a point, bringing on Gaspar for Turu Flores, but his players had other ideas and Tote got the winner with an individualist goal in injury time. Valladolid rise up to mid-table, level with their opponents on four points. Curiously the result leaves Real Madrid down in the relegation spots for the first time since the beginning of the 1993/4 season. They could have done with a striker of Tote's calibre yesterday.
