Just about the only place in Spain with good weather on Saturday night was in the Canary Islands, but unfortunately that didn't help to produce an interesting game. Las Palmas and Málaga played out a dull 0-0 draw which was influenced by the sending off of Zárate, who picked up a second yellow card for insulting referee Pino Zamorano with less than half an hour gone. Even with the return of Vinny Samways Las Palmas were incapable of breaking down the well organised Málaga defence, and only Jorge created any danger for Contreras. Peiró gave new signing Miguel Angel his debut for the visitors in the second half, and Litos could have snatched an undeserved victory near the end if he had been on target. Both teams ended the day in mid-table.
