On a low scoring weekend the match between Tenerife and Zaragoza ended goalless. It was the fourth match out of five that the Canary Islanders were unable to break their duck, and that despite the fact that their opponents were reduced to nine men for the last few minutes after Paco and then Juanele were sent off by referee Esquinas Torres for second bookable offences. It was a particular blow for Juanele, an ex Tenerife player, and he was only playing as the appeals committee suspended a two match ban after he was sent off last week.

Keeper Julio Iglesias (not the singer) was making his debut for the home side after Sergio Aragoneses was taken to hospital with gastric enteritis, and although he started shakily he made some good saves. Zaragoza's Ferrón came on for a rare appearance as second half substitute, but had to leave the field a few minutes later with an injury.
