Tenerife drop to within one place of the relegation zone after losing their fourth game of the season and failing to score for the fifth game out of six. They were up against it with only nineteen seconds gone when Marioni got sent off by referee Megia Dávila for a crunching tackle on Fredi, the fastest sending off ever in the first division. Sevilla took advantage of their numerical superiority to open the scoring through youngster Reyes, making himself space to force a shot through keeper Notario. Olivera came on in the second half to win a penalty and convert it himself to give his side their third win of the season and take the Andalucian side to within a point of the European spots.
