Two teams languishing in the bottom half of the table, Valladolid and Tenerife, cancelled each other out in a dull scoreless draw. Fans had little cheer on a bitter cold night where temperatures reached five below zero, with very few goal scoring chances as the two defences smothered any chance of attacking football. On the few occasions that the forwards did get through they either wasted the chance or came up against the two keepers Ricardo López and Sergio Aragoneses, who were the only two players to come out of the game with their reputations intact. Ricardo in particular made a spectacular save in the second half from Marioni, back in the side after a one match ban, and Sergio's best moments were a stop from a Fernando Sales header in the first half and efforts from Fernando and substitute Turu Flores after the break. The home supporters ended the game upset with referee Puentes Leira after he disallowed a late goal by Cuauhtèmoc, but the decision appeared to be correct as television cameras showed that the Mexican forward had pushed Pablo Paz into Sergio before putting the ball in the net. Tenerife came out the better of the two with an away point, but they stay down in the relegation zone in eighteenth place, with Valladolid six places and four points above them, relatively safe for now.
