Betis drop out of the Champions League spots to sixth after being held to their third 0-0 draw in a row by Osasuna. It was a rainy night in Sevilla, with the downpour both before and during the match making the pitch virtually unplayable at times. Visiting manager Miguel Angel Lotina made four changes to his side to try and stop the rot after only picking up one point from their last six games, with Cruchaga and Josetxo returning from suspension and Sabino replacing the off-form Aloisi in attack. Sabino almost put his side in front in the sixth minute with a clever back-heel after Contreras headed on a corner, Prats scrambling the ball away on the goal line. Benjamín had to clear another effort by Cruchaga out of the goalmouth later on in the half, and Betis replied with a gallop by Dani on to a long ball out of midfield, his shot being turned away for a corner by Unzué.

The ex Sevilla keeper had to punch away another shot by Capi after the break, and Juande Ramos made a double change soon afterwards to bring on Tais and Joao Tomas. The Portuguese striker tested the eyesight of González Vázquez claiming a dubious penalty soon afterwards, and although the referee was correct to turn that one down, he should probably have awarded one to Dani a few minutes later when he was pulled back by Contreras. In the final minutes Yanguas had a good chance to sneak a winner when he got free in front of Prats, but he shot into the side netting with two players standing unmarked alongside him. It was a disappointing result for the home fans, even though it extends their side's unbeaten run to fourteen games and maintains keeper Toni Prats at the top of the Zamora goalkeeping table, and once again it was apparent that they need a reliable striker to get on the end of the chances created by the skills of Joaquín and Denilson. Osasuna's point keeps them just clear of the bottom three, ahead of Zaragoza on goal difference.
