Osasuna dropped back into the bottom three after losing 1-0 to a Valladolid side who had not won in their last seven games. Inspired by their victory over Real Madrid the week before, over one thousand fans made the trip from Pamplona to cheer on their side. However they did not have much to shout about in a dull first half, with only a couple of early efforts from Fernando and Gancedo giving them any hope. Valladolid though were not doing any better, and only Fernando Sales showed any initiative, shooting just wide of the post and then putting in a dangerous cross which nobody could could take advantage of.

Iván Rosado missed the best chance of the game early in the second half when he failed to connect with a long ball in from Yanguas. It was a vital miss, and only a few minutes later the home side went in front, Jostxo giving the ball away to Sales who slid a pass through to Tote. The young striker appeared to have taken it too far, but he stopped and turned on the by-line, and fired in a shot from an impossible angle past Unzué. It was his ninth goal since signing last summer from Real Madrid, but he disappointed the home fans afterwards by saying that he would not be staying on at the Nuevo Zorilla stadium next season.

Osasuna came out looking for the equaliser, and Ricardo saved a long shot from Lekumberri and then did well to scramble away a bad back pass with substitute Armentano charging in. But Valladolid were not going to miss out on the three points, and they can consider themselves safe for another season. Although they drop to eighteenth, Osasuna are still only two points away from thirteenth placed Villarreal, and they have a vital game next week at home to relegation rivals Las Palmas, finishing off the season with matches against Basque neighbours Bilbao and Alavés. If the two of them have nothing to play for by then, they could lend a helping hand to their Pamplona based colleagues. It wouldn't be for the first time.
