Deportivo La Coruña got their league campaign back on track, although they had to come from behind to beat Osasuna at the El Sadar stadium to do so. The Pamplona based side took the lead in the twelfth minute when Mexican international Vidrio headed Puñal's free kick back into the net, and looked the better team throughout the first half.

Irureta had been resting some of his key players for next week's Champions League opener, but with an hour gone he was forced to bring on Sergio and Diego Tristán to try and make amends. A quarter of an hour later Fran found Tristán with a cross in from the left, and although Unzué managed to block his shot, the ball bounced up for Makaay to head into an empty net.

Before Osasuna had time to regroup it was the other substitute Sergio who found Makaay with a sweet through ball, and the Dutch striker ran on to drive a low shot wide of the keeper. It was a double-whammy in just over a minute, and to make matters worse the home side lost Puñal to a second booking near the end. The only downside for Depor was an injury to central defender César later on, which with Andrade out for several weeks with a broken toe could leave them short at the back for Wednesday night's match at Bayern Munich.
