Málaga ended their run of nine games without a win when they beat Mallorca 1-0. The visitors got off to the better start, creating several chances including a shot from close up by Eto'o which somehow cleared the bar, although Darío Silva could have given the home side the lead with a spectacular scissors kick. The turning point of the game though came on the half hour mark when the visitors' left back Poli was sent off for a hard tackle on Málaga captain Bravo, who was returning from a nine month long injury and who had just come on as substitute for the injured Josemi. The winning goal didn't come until midway through the second half though, when half time substitute Sandro set up Musampa for him to place his shot wide of Leo Franco, and they held on despite the best efforts of Pandiani, who fired a first time volley just over the bar late in the game. Defeats for the teams around them mean that Mallorca stay in seventh spot, with their opponents climbing back into the top half of the table.
