Mallorca beat Betis 2-1 to record their first league win in eight games. Manzano's side appeared to have regained their confidence after reaching the Spanish cup final midweek, and they took the lead in the first minute of the match with a Pandiani penalty after Ito pulled down Ibagaza. The visitors came back strongly though and equalised midway through the first half, Fernando directing a well-placed header past Leo Franco after Denilson won the ball off Lozano and produced a pinpoint cross.

Eto'o was back in the Mallorca side and almost put them back in front before the break when his shot was blocked on the line by Rivas with Prats beaten. Five minutes after the restart though Lozano made up for his earlier error, racing through to head Ibagaza's free kick down past Prats. Betis pushed their opponents back into their own half towards the end, but only long shots from Denilson and Joaquín caused any problems for Leo Franco, and Eto'o could have added to the lead when his header from a Carlos cross bushed the crossbar. The result leaves Betis out of the UEFA spots in seventh place and takes Mallorca further away from the danger zone up to thirteenth.
