Barcelona kept up their unbeaten record under Radomir Antic, but lost ground on the teams above them after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Valladolid. It was a strange game, with both goals scored in their own net by defenders and referee Iturralde González refusing to give two clear penalties, one to either side either side of half time.

Although Antic was still missing key players through injuries, Overmars and Kluivert returned to the side, and Overmars brought a good save out of Bizzarri early in the game. Midway through the first half the home side were lucky to be let off a penalty appeal when Bonano tripped Pachón in the area, Iturralde booking the striker for diving, but then took the lead when Torres Gómez deflected a wayward shot from Overmars past his own keeper.

Shortly before the break Riquelme went close to adding a second when he shot just wide of goal. Valladolid equalised though immediately after the restart when Bonano punched Olivera's corner into his own goal under pressure from Fernando Sales, and Barça had their own penalty appeal for a foul by Torres Gómez on Sorín turned down soon afterwards.

Antic decided to give Luis Enrique a run out and took off Riquelme, who was obviously upset, refusing to shake hands with his manager on his way off the field. The team suffered another set back though when Luis Enrique limped off again only eight minutes after coming on, and he could be out for another month or so with this new injury. Rochemback came on for him as Barça pushed for the win, but their only effort was a Xavi shot wide of the mark.
