Goals:
0-1. 87. Berizzo. Took Gustavo López pass to beat keeper from left of area.

Fifth placed Celta moved to within four points of Valencia with a late 0-1 victory over Atlético Madrid. The only goal came three minutes from the end when defender Berizzo collected a Gustavo López pass on the edge of the area and beat Esteban with a shot into the roof of the net.

The first half had been fairly even, with Mostovoi returning for the visitors but shooting just wide after Edu set him up, and Fernando Torres (also returning after injury) ghosting past Velasco and brushing the post on the stroke of half time.

With the loss of Edu through injury just before the break the visitors lost their spark, and Lotina also replaced a not fully fit Mostovoi midway through the second half. Atlético took control of the game and should have wrapped things up, with Emerson heading wide and Cavallero saving from substitute Javi Moreno, and Fernando Torres and Jorge also failing to take their chances.

But it was Celta who got the goal on a quick breakaway to take the three points and move away from one of their rivals for the European spots. The defeat puts a dampener on Atlético's centenary celebrations which started this week, although draws for the teams below them mean that they stay in sixth place.
