Valladolid and Sevilla played out one of the three goal-less draws in a low scoring weekend. Both sides were looking to consolidate their positions in midtable and came in to the game on top form, the home side having beaten Real Sociedad and drawn at Barcelona, and the visitors after three wins on the trot. One of the reasons for Sevilla's success is the good form of their goalkeeper Notario, and he improved his position at the top of the Zamora table with his fourth clean sheet in a row and another top class performance.

Bizzarri too made his mark though, in particular with two saves either side of half time from Reyes, and the home side could have gone in front when Oscar González headed against the bar after the break. Referee Losantos Omar turned down a penalty appeal later on when the visitors' David brought down Fernando Sales in the area, and in the final minutes sent off Valladolid's Mustafa for a second bookable offence. The visitors stay in eighth place, now only two points away from the UEFA spots, and their opponents are four points below them in eleventh position.
