Málaga beat Osasuna 0-1 to move back up to mid-table and leave their opponents on the verge of the relegation zone. The Andalucians have been the bête noir of the Pamplona based side since their promotion three years ago, but missing their twin strikers Dely Valdés (injured) and Darío Silva (out with tonsillitis), this looked like being a much closer battle.

As usual Osasuna started strongly, with Contreras saving from Aloisi in the opening minutes. As usual though they faded after that, and Musampa failing to take advantage of a one-on-one with Sanzol and Canabal heading over. Sandro went close with a long shot after the break, and a few minutes later Uruguayan international Gato Romero took advantage of a loose ball on the edge of the area to shoot wide of the keeper for the only goal of the game.

Málaga held on after that to record only their second away win in the league this season, the other coming on day one against Recreativo. For their part, Osasuna have now gone six games without a win, and they are only out of the bottom three thanks to a superior goal difference over Alavés.
